First day in Americorps
Today I woke up at exactly 5 am, which while not exactly normal or pleasant is still something I'm at least kind of used to, but this time felt different. Instead of the usual mix of irritation and excitement there was just pure excitement and dread which I hadn't really felt before. Still I got out of bed, got dressed, showered and made myself up in a way that was at least semi normal, despite the underlying concerns. On the last walk I took my dog on, my mom and I got a near perfect view of Orion the hunter which my mom assumed was some kind of good omen, I wasn't exactly sure about her thoughts but I deeply hoped so.
The plane ride and trip to the airport were pretty uneventful save for massively heavy baggage and meeting a woman who served in vista, which for those of you who don't know is essentially the ancestor of the Americorps which gave me some hope and reassurement. The meetings and other bureaucratic stuff I experienced after a very scenic bus ride were pretty standard stuff you'd expect before a school program or camp such as listing emergency contacts and the like, the issuing of lockers and crappy but delicious snacks you can buy for 3 bucks at target.
The socializing with the other kids started out rough but got ok later, but even then I don't really know anyone here, even the people I'm bunking with.
Anyways though this blog isn't about that, this is going to be a blog amount my travels and experiences in Americorps rather than just detailed analysis of what can be found in any pe class and job training, so before I'm officially sent out to Texas I've decided to make a bucket list I want to do on my trip as a whole which wile not exactly super humanitarian are still very fun to experience and to write about. Anyways here's my bucket list.
I'll be writing down an article for each.
